A large part of our team‘s resources is and will remain in Asia, and the firm will continue to build and strengthen its Asia team.
Tom Clausen
Managing Partner Co-founder of Capvent AG
Tom Clausen is a managing partner of Capvent that he co-founded in 2000. He has close to 20 years of experience in investing private equity funds, companies and debt instruments. As a member of the investment committee, Tom is very involved in the evaluation and execution of new funds and direct investments as well as in assisting portfolio companies in their expansion plans. Prior to establishing Capvent in 2000, Tom was an executive Director at Societe Generale in Zurich and London from 1998 to June 2000. In this role, he was in charge of building the firm’s leverage finance business in Switzerland and Germany. Prior to that, Tom worked in a senior corporate banker’s role for Credit Suisse First Boston in San Francisco and Silicon Valley from 1991 – 1997 providing structured debt financing to high growth companies on the West Coast. He graduated from the University of Zurich’s law school in 1987 and earned an M.B.A. from the University of San Francisco, where he graduated with Beta Gamma Sigma honor’s in 1996.
Varun Sood
Managing Partner Co-founder of Capvent AG
Varun is a co-founder of Capvent AG, and jointly manages the firm's investment activities and operations. Varun has served on the EVCA's professional standards committee and corporate governance task group aimedat setting internal standards for member firms in Europe. He also serves on several fund advisory boards. Previously, Varun was Executive Director and head of the European LBO group at Societe Generale and a Vice President at ABN AMRO. He has a BA from Delhi University and an MBA from INSEAD.
Connie Fu
Partner of Capvent AG
Connie is a Partner of Capvent AG, and responsible for our activities in China. She has previously worked at Vision Investments (a private investment office making investments in China) as well as with ABN AMRO Bank. She has a PhD and an Engineering Degree and has an MBA from INSEAD.
Rohan Ajila
Managing Partner
Rohan is a Managing Partner at Capvent India Private Equity (CIPE) and Partner at Capvent AG. He is responsible for sourcing and managing our fund and direct investments in India & Asia. Previously, he was Founder & CEO of IMO Communications, a pioneer in the online and offline B2B e-Commerce and supply chain consulting business in Asia with over US$ 1 billion in transaction volume. He began his career as a credit rating research analyst with CRISIL-S&P, then as an Investment Manager at Trans Arabian Investment Bank (TAIB) and advised MAPE, an Indian investment bank, on investment opportunities in India. He holds a Masters degree in Finance and International Business from the University of Houston.
